Explore the four-step process ↓

Thoughtful light. A complete picture.

Start with how you
want your home to feel.

Custom landscape lighting design brings your home’s architecture and outdoor spaces into one evening composition. We consider the view from the street, the walk to your door, and the places where you want to spend time after sunset.

For a home in McLean or Great Falls, that might mean framing a façade and a mature tree. In Vienna or Bethesda, it might begin with a welcoming entrance and a quieter garden. Your property—not a standard fixture layout—guides the conversation.

The details that shape the design

Light what matters.
Leave room for the night.

01 / Architecture

Give your home definition.

Bring out the texture of brick, the rhythm of columns, and the shape of your entrance. We consider placement and intensity so the architecture—not the fixture—is what you notice.

02 / Garden

Create depth beyond the door.

Use selected trees and planting to draw your eye into the landscape. Softer light and darker spaces work together, giving the garden dimension without lighting every surface.

03 / Everyday living

Make evenings feel inviting.

Connect pathways, steps, patios and gathering spaces with a considered balance of light. Tell us where you arrive, walk, sit and entertain so the plan reflects your routines.

Imagine the evening

Your garden doesn’t
have to disappear at dusk.

  2. 02

  3. 03

    Installation

Our team installs the agreed lighting system with attention to your planting and hardscape. Fixture placement and wiring follow the plan developed for your property.

  4. 04

    Final aiming & walkthrough

Before we get started

Good questions.
Clear answers.

What does custom landscape lighting design involve?

We look at your architecture, planting, pathways and the spaces you use after dark. The design considers where light belongs, how bright it should be, and what can stay in shadow. Your consultation and evening demonstration help shape the direction before installation.

Can I hire Glow Artisans for standalone landscape lighting design?

Yes. We offer standalone design as well as design plus installation. Standalone scope, deliverables and fees are agreed individually before work begins. The installation process and installed-project pricing on this page apply to projects we install.

What happens during an evening landscape lighting demo?

After your consultation, we set up a temporary lighting demonstration on your property at dusk. You can see how the proposed approach feels on your own home, discuss the brightness and focal points, and help refine the direction before installation.

How much does a landscape lighting project cost?

Focused front-façade installation packages start at $5,000. Comprehensive estate installations typically range from $15,000 to $50,000, depending on acreage and architectural complexity. Your proposal defines the scope and pricing. Standalone design fees are agreed separately.

Do you design landscape lighting in McLean, Great Falls and Vienna?

Yes. We work with homeowners in McLean, Great Falls, Vienna and Reston, Virginia, as well as Potomac, Cabin John and Bethesda, Maryland. We also welcome inquiries from other areas of the DMV; share your property address so we can confirm availability.

Can the design include trees, pathways and outdoor living spaces?

Yes. We can plan your façade, trees, garden, pathways and outdoor living spaces together. The starting point is how you want to use your home after dark, not a requirement to illuminate every part of the property.

Can you work with my landscape architect?

Yes. We collaborate with landscape architects so lighting complements the planting, architecture and hardscape. Let us know who is involved and where the wider project stands during your consultation.
